Abbas-Mustan won't venture into adult comedies

Mumbai: Director duo Abbas-Mustan, who are known for making thriller films are attempting a light-hearted film for the first time with "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon" but say that they would never make a adult comedy.

"Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon" marks the acting debut of stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma. "We are sure if there is one space (genre) that we would not like to make is adult comedy films. We do not like vulgarity... We are not comfortable. There are glamorous roles in our films but they are not vulgar. We want to make family entertainers," the duo told PTI in an interview here.

"It is difficult to make people laugh. It is easy to make a thriller... Drama and action films. We have tried our best to entertain the audience," they said. The story of "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon" came long back to the "Race" director but they were looking for the right time and the right actor.

"We heard the script of this film couple of years back from a writer. We loved it and found it entertaining. There was no buffoonery. We thought of making the film at the right time. Then "Race" and other films happened," Abbas Mastan said.

"We used to watch "Comedy Nights with Kapil" and liked him (Kapil). We asked the writer to narrate the story to Kapil and he too liked it and that is how the film happened," he said.

The film tells the story of a husband having more than one marriage and his extra marital affair. The theme has been tested in Bollywood earlier but the director insists their film is different.

"We can't reveal too many details," they added. Considering it's a light hearted fun film and the lead actor Kapil is known for his brilliant comic timing the director duo found it easy to direct him.

"He is spontaneous, he used to improvise on the sets. It was easy to work with him. We had great fun making the film and we did not realise when this 45 days of shoot got over. We are happy with the film and now it is ready for release," Abbas Mastan said. The film also starring Arbaaz Khan, Varun Sharma, Elli Avram and Simran Kaur Mundi and others will hit cinema houses tomorrow.
