VERDICT: Boring and Time Pass
One of the most anticipated movies of Shah Rukh Khan, Fan had a lot of hype around it. Certainly, the buzz worked and the film, despite its limited target reach, raked in a bombastic opening of Rs 19.20 crore, which is by far the highest this year.
But like Dilwale, though Fan did have a great opening, it has failed to keep the momentum. The film, devoid of songs and romance, is different from the usual fare dished out by Bollywood. But the box office report card shows that India still isn't ready to embrace superstar SRK without his outstretched arms and his usual romantic lines.
The film performed decently over the weekend and recorded a total of around Rs 52 crore nett in three days. But the film's box office seems almost sealed after the first Monday. Fan came almost crashing down on its fourth day and brought in only Rs 6.50 crore, which means it had a sharp 70% drop in its collections from its opening, which is detrimental for any film.
The film will rake in a first week collection of around Rs 70 crore and might not make it to the 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. Definitely an under-performer, but well, a film of this genre in any case will not have the reach that other Bollywood masala films will enjoy. For now, it looks like even good reviews and public acceptance has not helped the film much.
We think know SRK know that India is WAY too tolerant that even his this idiotic movie could go this far
