MS Dhoni The Untold Story has become the highlight of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s career. He has not just impressed everyone with his acting skills, but he has also shined with his performance as the Indian skipper. From Dhoni’s mannerisms to his batting style, Sushant has put in a lot of hard work to get every move right. Even his local accent is winning hearts. No wonder the biopic continues to stay strong at the box office. The film, which opened last Friday, managed to collect Rs. 94.13 crore till Thursday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory Fri 21.30 cr, Sat 20.60 cr, Sun 24.10 cr, Mon 8.51 cr, Tue 7.52 cr, Wed 6.60 cr, Thu 5.50 cr. It collected Rs 21.30 crore on Friday, Rs 20.60 crore on Saturday and Rs 24.10 crore on Sunday, earning a total of Rs. 66 crore in its opening weekend. Though the film saw a massive dip on Monday, it continued to stay strong. Its profits stood at Rs 8.51 crore and Rs 7.52 crore on Monday and Tuesday respectively, while its Wednesday collection was Rs 6.6 crore.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story traces the life and struggles of India’s most successful cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who went from being a ticket collector working with the Indian Railways to leading the Men in Blue to win the World Cup in 2011. Sushant prepared for the film and mastered Dhoni’s helicopter shot too. The film is directed by Neeraj Pandey. It also stars actors Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Anupam Kher and Bhumika Chawla.
While the audience and makers of the film are waiting to see if it’ll enter Bollywood’s much-coveted Rs 100-crore club, the bigger test lies with two films releasing on Friday. Mirzya directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra which marks the debut of Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, and Tutak Tutak Tutiya starring Prabhudheva, Sonu Sood and Tamannaah Bhatia are ready to open this weekend. Will MS Dhoni: the Untold Story continue to hold a footing at the box office, is something we need to wait and watch.
