Jabariya Jodi is based on groom kidnapping which is prevalent in some places of Bihar.
For quite a sometime now there have been reports about Sidharth Malhotra doing Ekta Kapoor's movie, Shotgun Shaadi. Now, it has been confirmed that Sidharth has reunited with his Ek Villain producer for the film, which has now been titled Jabariya Jodi. The movie also stars Parineeti Chopra, who has worked with Sid in 2014 film Hasee Toh Phasee
The actors have started shooting for the film as the official Twitter page of Balaji Motion Pictures shared a photograph of the film's clapboard. It was captioned: "Filming begins for Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Jabariya Jodi. Shoot begins." It will be directed by Prashant Singh.
Jabariya Jodi is based on groom kidnapping which is prevalent in some places of Bihar. Shooting of the movie has begun in Lucknow. A source told DNA that Sid and Parineeti have also shot for posters which will be out soon. ''As it’s based on pakadwa vivaah, the makers felt that this was an apt name. In Bhojpuri, jabariya means zabardasti, so the title refers to a couple who is forced to get married. The two actors have also shot for the posters before leaving for Lucknow, so they should be out soon,'' told the source.
Sidharth is reportedly playing a Bihari thug in the film and he is the one who made the suggestion to change the title. The actor also ensured that Ekta Kapoor backs the movie. Sid told DNA, ''Balaji will always be special because till date, my biggest film (Ek Villain, 2014) is with Ekta. That’s why the thought of calling her up about this script earlier this year was obvious. She’s good at presenting and marketing a film. We have had great energies which have worked for us in Ek Villain and we are going to amplify it further with this movie”.
On the professional front, Parineeti will next be seen in Namastey England and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, whereas Sidharth is busy shooting for Vikram Batra's biopic.
