The breathtakingly beautiful TV actress Mouni Roy is all set to foray into the world of cinema. She will make her debut with the sports drama, Gold, where she will play the role of Akshay Kumar’s wife. Lined up in future, she has the big-budget Dharma film, Brahmastra, and also promising movies like Raw opposite John Abraham and Made In China opposite Rajkummar Rao. As the case is, for any actor making a big leap, rumours were rife that a big name is instrumental in building Mouni’s Bollywood career through recommendation. Here, the name was Salman Khan, with whom Mouni has shared the Bigg Boss stage for a few performances and even starred in a promo. Well, Mouni, once again, denies all rumours of Salman helping her bag her debut film.
Talking to a Times of India, Mouni hit back at the rumours and said, “Salman Khan has had no role to play in my Bollywood debut; I don’t know how these reports emerged and I wonder why anybody would do that for me. Is it so unbelievable that after acting for 10 years and being a Bengali, I can’t land a Bengali character’s role by myself? It was hurtful.”
The actress further blamed media for not giving her credibility as an actor. She added, “if I talk about this, it will look like I am using Salman sir’s name for publicity, and I don’t want to do that. He is someone I love and respect immensely. I have been his fan since I was a little girl, and I used to collect his posters and pictures. So, I don’t want to just take his name, but now that this has come up, let me clarify that I have not got a single call from Salman Khan’s production house for any role.” She also revealed that has not received any call for Dabangg 3.
In July 2017, at an event, Gold producer Ritesh Sidhwani had said that Mouni landed the role in his film after impressing the makers with an audition. “To be honest, no one recommended her. She is talented. It’s like taking away someone’s talent by saying that somebody recommended her,” he had said. Mouni had shared a screenshot of a news article reporting the same on her Instagram, though the post has now been deleted.
