Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, as the name clearly and loudly suggests is a sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit by Mudassar Aziz.
Who would have thought that Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016) will get a sequel? Well, who would have thought that Tanu Weds Manu will have a part 2? Sequels happen. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, as the name clearly and loudly suggests is a sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit by Mudassar Aziz. Produced, once again, by Aanand L Rai, the movie features Sonakshi Sinha take up the titular responsibilities. But Diana Penty returns, too, albeit in a limited appearance. The movie opened in theatres today. The verdict by the critics has been long out today. But now the first response from the real jury of any film, the audience, has also surfaced.
Our cameramen outside popular theatres in Mumbai spoke to the audience coming out of the theatres, with the movie experience at its extreme freshness. And most of the people had positive things to say about Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi. One man had come to the movies thinking the sequel won’t be as good as the original but was happily surprised to learn the case was not that. All, unanimously, praised Jimmy Shergill’s performance.
Nobody wanted to compare the two Happys – Diana and Sonakshi. The members of the audience were very well aware of the difference between the roles and responsibilities of the two actresses.
For BollywoodLife, Moumita Bhattacharjee reviewed the film and wrote, “Every comedy film that comes out of Aanand L Rai’s stable has some of the best and relevant jokes we have ever heard in recent times. His team just never goes wrong with that. Here too, the gags are the only thing that saves the film from being an unbearable mess.”
