Bharat: Salman Khan's film is raking in the moolah at the box-office despite the opening day clashing with the World Cup match of India Vs South Africa
Salman Khan's Bharat has set the cash registers ringing all over India. The film is a hit in the multiplexes and single screens across the country. It has made Rs 73.3 crore at the domestic box office in two days, with family audiences flocking to the theatres. What is noteworthy is that Bharat is not like other Eid releases. The film hit the marquee on the same day as India's opening match against South Africa in the World Cup. This had left some industry experts doubtful about the opening figures. Bharat opened at a record-breaking Rs 42.30 crore making it his highest Eid opener. Salman Khan's previous record for Eid was held by Sultan at Rs 36.53 crore.
The huge opening numbers are also special because Salman was clear he didn’t want distributors to hike the ticket fees which is a regular industry trend for festival releases. Here is a look at Salman Khan's figures for Eid releases so far as shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Bharat hit the the theatres on a weekday and made such a massive number. In the past, many films of big stars haven't been able to get staggering numbers on weekdays. The film is holding steady and has made Rs 31 crore on day two. It is proof that people are equally crazy about Salman as they're about cricket.
The film is a remake of the Korean blockbuster, Ode To My Father. Bharat sees Salman Khan as a kid who gets separated from his family during the Partition. How he makes a life for himself and his mom in India while seeing the journey of the nation is what the film is all about. The film has Katrina Kaif as his love interest, Kumud Raina. Disha Patani, Sonali Kulkarni, Tabu and Jackie Shroff also play important roles. Stay tuned to BollywoodLife for more scoops and updates!
