After 25 years in and around the pitch and almost 17 years of international cricket, batsman Yuvraj Singh on Monday announced his retirement from the game. Tributes poured in from the cricket fraternity and his many friends in the film industry on social media to laud the sportsman for his impressive achievements over the years.
Among the many Bollywood celebrities who sent out warm messages of appreciation, was Yuvraj’s rumoured ex-girlfriend and actress Kim Sharma. Taking to her Twitter account, she commended the star cricketer for his achievements and wished him the best for his life ahead with his wife Hazel.
"Well played Yuvraj. A standing ovation for some unforgettable moments in sport. May your next phase be as smashing with Hazel," she posted.
Starting off in 2000 in the ICC KnockOut Trophy, Yuvraj last played a Test for India in 2012 and last featured in a limited-over series in 2017.
The 37-year-old had a dream run at the 2011 World Cup, scoring 362 runs, and thus becoming the first all-rounder to score 300-plus runs and take 15 wickets in a single edition of the sporting event.
