The makers of the Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi released the trailer of the film on the internet a while ago and received mixed reactions from the audience and the critics alike. The film that is a biopic on the life of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa is now facing a legal hurdle.
Earlier in November J. Deepa, Jayalalithaa’s niece had moved to the Madras High Court filing a lawsuit against the makers of them film and another project that’s in the pipeline stating that she is the legal heir of the late actress and politician and that the makers of the film should have contacted her before making a film or a web series on her life. They have no legal rights to make a movie on her life which may affect her aunt’s or her family’s privacy. Deepa also demanded that entire script be submitted to her before the project goes ahead.
On Tuesday, Madras High Court granted permission to J. Deepa to sue the makers Director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu of the film Thalaivi as well as Gautham Menon who is planning the web series on the life of Jayalalithaa titled Queen starring Ramya Krishnan.
