As the nation prepares for the third phase of ‘Unlock Plan’ from 1 August 2020, there may be a piece of good news for cinema lovers across the country. Yes, speculations are doing rounds that the government of India is considering to open movie theatres for the general public albeit with strict restrictions in its Unlock 3.0 plan. After staying out of function for a period of three months, cinema halls are ready to welcome movie-lovers once again to enjoy their favourite movies on the big screen.
To ensure that social distancing norms are strictly enforced, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has issued a set of new guidelines to be followed by all the movie theatres across India. These precautionary plans will ensure the safety of the moviegoers and help in containing the spread of the novel coronavirus. While we are waiting for the final approval from the centre on the reopening of movie halls, here are 8 precautionary measures which will be taken when and if the cinema halls reopen:
02/9Adjacent seat will be left empty
Following the social distancing norms, while family members, couples and groups will be seated together, the seating arrangement will ensure that the seat next to them is left empty to keep people from different households away from each other. There are also speculations that alternate rows in the theatre will be kept empty to keep a safe distance from each other.
03/9Temperature check will be the new normal
Body temperature detectors will be used to scan customers to screen out those with an elevated temperature and ensure no one entering the premises is running a fever.
04/9Wearing masks will be mandatory
Wearing a cloth cover or face mask while entering the cinema halls may be made mandatory to ensure the safety of the general public. All the customers, officials and people working in the ticket sale and food counters will be asked to wear masks.
05/9You will need to have Arogya Setu installed
Customers and employees will be asked to install the Arogya Setu app and log in and monitor their symptoms over the app.
06/9Contact-less purchase to be made available
The sale of movie tickets, foods and beverages will be made online (or with the help of an app) to ensure contact-less purchase and delivery. This is done to encourage contact-less and paperless payments.
07/9Hygiene comes first
Touch-free antibacterial gel stations (sanitizers), plastic gloves and garbage bins (to discard used tissues, gloves and masks) to be made available across all cinema halls.
08/9Cinema halls to be sanitized after every show
Deep cleaning of the theatres is recommended between screenings to ensure the hygiene and safety of the customers entering the cinema halls.
09/9Demarcations on the floor to maintain social distancing
All customers will be asked to follow the demarcated circles at all cinema halls to ensure social distancing measures.
