Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide on June 14 at his Bandra residence is being probed by the Mumbai police. Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend, had left his residence on June 8 after an alleged argument. While Rhea urged for a CBI probe into the actor’s death, she was soon facing an FIR from Sushant’s father KK Singh, who allegedly charged her with abetment of suicide, fraud and confinement among other things. Rhea has maintained a silent stand since then, only communicating through her legal team. Here’s taking a look at Rhea’s side of the story.
Her statement has been recorded by Mumbai police. She’s cooperated with police as and when called. Till today no notice or summons has been received by her from Bihar Police and they have no Jurisdiction to investigate the case. She has filed proceedings in the SC. She has sought transfer of the case to Mumbai. The case is Sub Judice. Advocate Satish Maneshinde.”
Breaking her silence on the several allegations made by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father in his FIR, Rhea had expressed her faith in the judicial system in a video statement. Dressed in white, a teary Rhea had shot for the clip at an undisclosed location. “I have immense faith in God and the judiciary. I believe that I will get justice. Even though a lot of horrible things are being said about me on the electronic media, I refrain from commenting on the advice of my lawyers as the matter is sub-judice. Satyameva jayate, the truth shall prevail,” Rhea had stated.
Rhea Chakraborty had also revealed through her legal team that she was not allowed to attend Sushant Singh Rajput’s last rites, that were held in Mumbai. “Rhea Chakraborty has always been living in Mumbai. She was in Mumbai on 14th June 2020. She was not allowed to attend the Funeral of Sushant Singh as her name was stuck off from the list of 20.” Revealed that she has twice appeared to file her statement, Rhea’s legal team had shared, “She was summoned by Mumbai Police on 18th of June 2020 at Bandra Police Station. Her statement was recorded there. Subsequently she was summoned to appear on 17th July 2020 at Santacruz Police station. She appeared and recorded her supplementary statement.”
Rhea Chakraborty had moved the Supreme Court, seeking to transfer the case to Mumbai in connection to the FIR filed in Bihar. She had filed the petition on July 30. Her legal team’s statement read, “When the Bihar Police came to Mumbai to investigate a case on the basis of an FIR registered at Patna , she approached the Supreme Court and filed a Transfer Petition on 30th July 2020 for Transfer of the Case to Mumbai in view of the Legal Position that a case registered beyond the jurisdiction of the local police station where the alleged incident has taken place can only record a 'Zero FIR' and transfer it for investigation to Mumbai where the criminal law has already been set in motion. The Bihar Police has no jurisdiction to investigate the case legally and otherwise.”
Recently, Bihar Government recommended that a CBI investigation be initiated in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Reacting to the same, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, advocate Satish Maneshinde said in a statement, “The Petition Filed by Rhea Chakraborty in SC that Bihar Police had no jurisdiction to investigate the case will continue in SC. There cannot be transfer of a case which had no legal basis for Bihar to get involved. At the most it would be a “Zero FIR” and transferable to Mumbai Police.
The transfer of a case on which they had no jurisdiction to CBI has no legal sanctity. Having realised that Bihar has no jurisdiction this illegal method has been adopted. Otherwise you are interfering in the Federal Structure of our Nation in a back door manner . It touches the very root of the Federal Structure on the basis of which India became a Republic by Union of States.”
Soon after the FIR was filed, reports suggested that Rhea Chakraborty and her family had gone missing. However advocate Satish Manshinde, who is representing the actress, had shared in a statement, “The contention of Bihar Police that Rhea Chakraborty is missing is not correct.
Her statement has been recorded by Mumbai police. She’s cooperated with police as and when called. Till today no notice or summons has been received by her from Bihar Police and they have no Jurisdiction to investigate the case. She has filed proceedings in the SC.
