Entertainer Junaid Khan, who won praise from critics for his performance in the Netflix movie Maharaj, has been teasing fans about his newest movie project. The Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's son, the actor, disclosed that he has started filming an unnamed movie in Delhi.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Junaid Khan discussed his latest project and hinted that a well-known production company is supporting it. A few weeks ago, there were rumours on the internet that he was filming in Delhi with Khushi Kapoor, and that they would be there for several weeks.

This announcement comes on the heels of the release of Maharaj, a historical drama that has received widespread positive feedback since its premiere on Friday.

As he considered Maharaj's triumph, Junaid conveyed his appreciation for the movie's response. "I'm really appreciative of Maharaj's generally kind reception. Thus, yes, it's very rewarding; I suppose everything works out in the end," he remarked. Maharaj explores the biography of social reformer Karsandas Mulji and discusses the 1862 Maharaj Libel Case, one of India's most important court cases.

Along with Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey, the film is directed by Sidharth P. Malhotra and produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment. Sharvari makes a special cameo in the film.

Junaid shared his thoughts on joining the project, citing the strong narrative and the Yash Raj banner as key attractions. “When Sid and Adi Sir called me for this story, I found it very appealing. I really liked Sid Sir’s part. The Yash Raj banner is significant, so taking on this project was an obvious choice,” he said.

The release of Maharaj faced a brief hurdle when the Gujarat High Court imposed a temporary stay on its release.

But on Friday, this hold was removed, which prompted YRF to thank them in a formal statement. The statement said, "We are thankful to the judiciary for permitting the release of Maharaj, a film that honours Karsandas Mulji, one of our nation's most significant social reformers." For half a century, Yash Raj Films has been a champion of India, its people, their stories, their culture, and their history. We have never made a movie that damaged the standing of our nation or its citizens.

Maharaj is streaming on Netflix.
