Richard's parents, Rose and Al, are portrayed by Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly, respectively. Other actresses include Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey and Leslie, the wife of director Robert Zemeckis.

Wednesday, June 26 saw the premiere of the film's trailer. It was notable for having a de-aged Tom and Robin together for an embrace. Every scene in the video is shot from the same perspective, showcasing various historical occurrences such as a passing cavewoman, a field behind a farmhouse, the construction of a house, and the lives of Tom and Robin.
