The identical purple costumes that David and Victoria Beckham wore when they said "I do" 25 years ago were worn to honour their anniversary.
On Wednesday, July 3, David, 49, posted on Instagram a picture of himself and Victoria, 50, dressed in retro styles from more than 20 years ago with the caption, "Look what we found."
David wore a purple suit with a violet pinned to the lapel of the jacket. Victoria looked stunning in her purple, asymmetrical gown with a red underskirt. Red and purple roses are arranged on the shoulder strap of the garment. She added a pair of strappy heels that were laced up to just below her knees as an accessory to the ensemble.
The duo is seen in the picture holding hands while seated on matching golden thrones. David gives his wife a big smile and seems to be smiling while Victoria smiles for the camera.
Fans of the pair responded to the instantly iconic photo in the comments section.
One person quipped, "I'm going to tell my kids these are the King and Queen of England," while another said, "It's the most beautiful colour 💜💜💜💜💜💜."
Andy Cohen of Bravo expressed his support for the couple as well, saying that their clothes "still fit great."
In July 1999, David and Victoria exchanged vows in Ireland's Luttrellstown Castle. The couple dressed traditionally in ivory bridal gowns for their wedding ceremony on their special day. But they chose to wear Antonio Berardi's purple outfits for the revelry that followed.
A few months after welcoming their now 25-year-old son Brooklyn, Victoria and David walked down the aisle. Additionally, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12, are raised by the pair.
In the docuseries Beckham, the former soccer player provided an intimate glimpse into his relationship with Victoria earlier this year. David talked candidly about his and Victoria's wedding and his choice to wear the purple suit in the Netflix special.
“I’m trying to think back to when I decided to wear a purple suit, and I don’t know when that happened,” David explained. “I think I just took Victoria’s lead on it, but what were we thinking?”
Victoria added her voice to support the outfit selection. "Yet it was enjoyable," she shot back. We didn't give a damn about what people would think. We were just people who wanted to express themselves.
Following the documentary's airing, David revealed that he and Victoria had watched it together and were pleased with how they had progressed through the years.
“After watching the documentary, after everything was over and we watched it finally, that’s the one thing that we looked at each other and was like, ‘I don’t know how we got through the last 27 years, but we did,'” David said during a May episode of the “Smartless” podcast. “And we have an amazing family, we have amazing businesses and we’re happy.”
