Finally, after a long wait the highly awaited movie of 2016 ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ starring two charming actors Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra was released yesterday and much to everyone’s delight, the film fared well at the box-office in the opening day.
The film saw a decent opening in day one and it registered an occupancy of 40% in the multiplexes and in North India, while in other parts of the country the timeless love story registered around 25% occupancy. Based on the initial numbers, we can conclude that the film will earn around 6-8 crore in the opening day.
Another reason that worked in favour of the film is that it faced no major competition at the box-office. It was a single big release of the week and so ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ got full advantage. ‘Freaky Ali’ released on the same day pulled lesser number of audience as compared to ‘Baar Baar Dekho’.
Made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ released in 2000 screen. The film is likely is earn Rs. 30 crore or more in its first weekend.
For the first time Katrina and Sidharth are working together and so audiences' eagerness to view the film is quite high. Katrina seems to have improved in the emotional scenes, but falters in dialogue delivery. She looks gorgeous in every frame throughout the film. Sidharth too has a great screen presence and puts up a decent performance. But above all, Katrina and Sidharth look like they are made-for-each-other and they share a great on-screen chemistry as well.
‘Baar Baar Dekho’ is a light-hearted, unique love story in which Katrina and Sidharth will reportedly play a couple of 30 years and their life reaches to 60.
"It is a unique love story of these two people who span over a period of time. It gives us a chance to play different ages, there is an X-factor in it. There are different age groups that we have to play in the film. I have to age as the character grows. I am playing a character that grows from the age of 28 to 46 to 60. And to play these parts is tough, for me. I am excited to try prosthetics look," Sidharth had told PTI in an interview.
‘Baar Baar Dekho’ is produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment and is scheduled to be released in 2016. Nitya debuts as a director with ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. She has earlier assisted Farhan Akhtar in films like ‘Lakshya’ and ‘Don’. Nitya has also directed a few episodes of TV series 24, starring Anil Kapoor in the lead role.
The film however received mixed reactions from critics and audiences. The film is well promoted by the lead stars and will grow in numbers gradually.
