Bollywood actors walking out of a project mid-way is nothing new. The reasons for this are many – from ego hassles to personal problems, health issues and others.
Recently, Chitrangada Singh quit Nawazuddin Siddique starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaz’. The actress was shooting for an intimate scene when director Kushan Nandy blatantly asked her for retakes. Chitrangada was offended by the director’s outrageous remarks in front of the whole unit. She had a huge fight with Kushan and immediately walked out of the sets.
Actress Prachi Desai, who was last seen in Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Azhar’ had signed a film based on football titled ‘Penalty’. She had even shot for the film in Lucknow in May end. However, the petite and beautiful actress walked out on the Shubham Sinha directorial after a day of shooting. Reportedly, Prachi was unhappy as the film was not living up to the script that was given to her.
Veteran actress Rekha was initially signed on to play the role of Begum in the Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer film ‘Fitoor’. She had even shot for 80 percent of her scenes. Then suddenly in May last year, Rekha walked out of the film leaving the makers in a fix. Reportedly, the diva was not happy with her looks in the film after she saw the final rushes. After Rekha bowed out of the film, Tabu came on board and graciously replaced her.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the original choice for Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2012 film ‘Heroine’. They made a grand announcement at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and gave interviews about how excited they were about the film. But after shooting for some days, Aishwarya decided to quit the film as she became pregnant. Thereafter, Kareena Kapoor was roped in as her replacement. However, the film tanked at the box office.
Kareena was originally slated to make her debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in his debut ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’. After shooting for the film for some days, she suddenly walked out of it. According to reports, Kareena had felt that the film’s script was week. Her loss became Ameesha Patel’s gain who had her dream debut.
Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani also had to quit Umesh Shukla’s 2015 film ‘All Is Well’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Asin, after signing the film. When the Bhartiya Janta Party, to which she owes allegiance, came to power in the 2014 general elections, she was made a cabinet minister. As such, Smriti had no time for shooting and had to bow out of the film. The producers then roped in Supriya Pathak to fill her shoes.
Acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan who had given films like ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘Haasil’, ‘Charas’ etc. with filmmaker friend Tigmanshu Dhulia, dropped out of the latter’s yet-to-be-released film ‘Yaara’. It’s a remake of a French film and stars Vidyut Jamwal, Amit Sadh, Shruti Haasan, besides the director himself. The ‘Piku’ actor quit the project reportedly because of his international commitments.
