MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has become another benchmark for Sushant Singh Rajput's career, who had previously shown his interest in cricket in his debut Bollywood film, Kai Po Che.
The cricket fervour is the second huge thing in India right after Salman Khan ( that keeps Bollywood by extension). After Byomkesh Bakshi, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has become another benchmark for Sushant Singh Rajput’s career, who had previously shown his interest in cricket in his debut Bollywood film, Kai Po Che. That precisely was the reason producer Arun Pandey preferred to cast him.
The biopic continues to stay strong at the box office on it’s eighth day, minting as much as ₹ 98.20 cr.
“#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory is UNAFFECTED by new releases… [Week 2] Fri 4.07 cr. Total: ₹ 98.20 cr. India biz. Hindi+Tamil+Telugu versions,” tweeted Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
It looks like Dhoni is the top winner, and that’s no longer just restricted to a cricket pitch.
The film, which opened last Friday, managed to collect Rs. 98.20 cr. till now.
The film traces the life and struggles of India’s cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who went from being a ticket collector working with the Indian Railways to leading the Men in Blue to win the World Cup in 2011. Sushant prepared for the film and mastered Dhoni’s helicopter shot too. The film is directed by Neeraj Pandey. It also stars actors Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Anupam Kher and Bhumika Chawla.
For now Neeraj Pandey’s film, has remained unaffected despite other popular regional and bollywood this week.
