Three episodes into its fifth season, Koffee With Karan has already upped the ante from its previous editions.
If the season opener — featuring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan was full of zingers, then the Twinkle Khanna-Akshay Kumar episode is being called possibly the best of KWK.
Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan had a tough act to follow, after Twinkle, but while they just about passed muster, it is episode four — featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh — that has got everyone talking.
And in new teasers shared by the Star World channel (on which KWK airs), Ranbir and Ranveer are seen having a blast.
While the two young actors haven't shared screen space in a film so far, we're sure filmmakers will be queuing up to cash in on their chemistry after watching them on the KWK episode.
While Ranveer's zany side is no secret, the real revelation is Ranbir, who seems to have let down his guard and thrown himself into the spirit of things with glee.
The first quotable quip comes courtesy Ranbir, when host Karan Johar asks him about his (newly) single status, and whether or not he needs space in a relationship.
"Being single is boring," shoots back Ranbir. "There's no such thing as (wanting) space in a relationship. If you want space, go join NASA!"
And Ranveer's comebacks don't seem to have quite as much power as Ranbir's until he comes up with this gem when quizzed by Karan about Shah Rukh Khan's remark that he (Ranveer was wearing padded briefs) in a scene from Befikre.
"I was just saving them the post-production work," says Ranveer, adding cheekily: "Of doing VFX on my red chilly."
The boys then have a challenge thrown at them by Karan — to replicate Katrina Kaif's signature step from 'Chikni Chameli'.
Ranbir seems stymied for a moment, while Ranveer throws himself into the pelvic thrusts with abandon. Ranbir tries to win the round by pointing out that Ranveer's doing the step incorrectly and launches into the right one. But Ranveer finishes strong and wins the bout.
