The team of Kalank was shooting in Mumbai’s Chitrakoot grounds when a part of the set collapsed.
Director Abhishek Varman’s ambitious film Kalank is facing trouble. The film’s set erected in Mumbai’s Chitrakoot Grounds has suffered damage due to heavy rains. A part of the set collapsed on Wednesday and that forced the team to stop shooting.
A source close to the film told Filmfare that the shooting won’t start before 15 days. “The team was to shoot a 20-day schedule starting July 31. Now, the shoot is postponed for at least two weeks as dates for all the cast members who have scenes together had to be reworked. The makers have decided to wait for the rains to let up before resuming shoot,” said the source.
Kalank, which is a collaboration among three big production houses, has been suffering from one problem or the other since the beginning of shooting. The film is jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala Grandson and Fox Star Studios and is a period film set in the 1940s. The film has Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.
While Varun and Alia suffered injuries in the first leg of shooting, Aditya Roy Kapur, who joined the team later, got injured during the second schedule. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Sonakshi Sinha in important roles.
Kalank boasts of expensive sets, in fact the first set of the film cost Rs 15 crore. The film is expected to hit the screens on April 19, 2019.
