This Independence Day, we are getting a double bonanza as two Bollywood biggies Gold and Satyameva Jayate are hitting the screens to bank upon this national holiday at the box office. The good part is that both the films are high on buzz and we expect them to get a great opening at the box office. In fact, by looking at the current scenario, Gold and Satyameva Jayate have the potential to become the biggest solo openers of the respective lead stars.
Talking about Gold, the trailer and songs have received a humongous response from the movie buffs. With around 2500 to 3000 screens, the sports drama should earn above Rs 20 crore on its first day. Since the film caters to both single-screen and multiplex audiences, Gold will definitely have an up upper-hand at the box office. Talking about the film, Gold is inspired by true events and is about India’s first Olympic medal win in hockey, as a free nation in the year 1948 at Games of the XIV Olympiad, London. The movie is directed by Reema Kagti, who previously helmed movies like Talaash and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. Besides Akshay Kumar, it also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal and Vineet Singh in pivotal roles.
Coming to Satyameva Jayate, the film is a massy masala entertainer and primarily targets single screens audience. With around 2000 screens, we expect the action film to collect between Rs 10 to 12 crore at the ticket windows on its opening day. Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also features Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in key roles. It marks the directorial debut of writer Milap Milan Zaveri. So out of these two films, which is your pick?
