Hum Review: Kushal Tandon shines as the kind-hearted Casanova while Karishma Sharma shows a lot of spunk

We have been hearing about ALT Balaji’s Hum – I am because of Us since a while now. The show was earlier titled as Kapoor’s and generated curiosity because of the casting of Kushal Tandon, Karishma Sharma and Ridhima Pandit. This is Tandon and Pandit’s first web show. The show has been in production from the start of the year and is directed by Parth Mitra. It is the tale of three sisters, their ambitions, romance and inter-personal relationships in the face of changing circumstances. We watched the first episode and here is our review of the same…

What is it about…

Devina (Ridhima Pandit), Isha (Karishma Sharma) and Sakshi (Payal Bhojwani) are three sisters who love each other very much but have contrasting personalities. While Devina is the idealistic one, Isha believes that materialistic gratification comes over everything else. They are the daughters of a woman from a royal family of Punjab who gave up on a luxurious life for the sake of love. A special invitation brings them to the City of Dreams Mumbai and it brings about a twist in their personal and professional lives there on…

What’s hot…

The biggest USP are the performances. While Kushal Tandon breezes through the role of the kind-hearted Casanova with an interesting past, it is Karishma Sharma who surprises you. She brings in the spunk to the character of a girl enamoured by all the worldly pleasure of life. Karishma’s ‘wannabe’ act is fun to watch. Ridhima does well but it is a very one-dimensional character so far. Of course, Satyajeet Sharma is reliable as usual. The production is top notch and you will feel like you’re watching a big budget film. The episodes are crisp and you will sail through without being too bored.

What’s not…

The story seems kind of predictable, which is a bit of a letdown. In one of the scenes, Devina says she does not have a mobile phone. Now, the sisters do not look that economically that under-privileged from any angle. Some questions are unanswered like how the girls survive if their mom is unemployed.

Verdict..

Kushal Tandon’s fans will enjoy seeing him in this stylish fun-loving Casanova character. The actor has the effortless swag. Hum packs in the emotions and entertainment in equal measure. This one won’t disappoint you…
