In the early 2000s, Bollywood saw the biggest fight ever between Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu, both top actresses at the time – check out all details inside.
Kareena Kapoor (now Khan) has had her share of catfights in Bollywood. During the early 2000s, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu had quite the exchange of words. The two actresses had appeared in a film together titled Ajnabee (2001), which also starred Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol. Even before the film had released, rumours of their fight had already started making headlines.
According to a report in India Today, the two actresses had a major tiff about their costumes. Incidentally, Bebo’s designer helped out Bipasha with her costume, ahead of sorting her out. The report reveals that the two exchanged quite a few words, to an extent that Kareena called Bipasha, ‘kaali billi’. There were also rumours that Bebo had slapped Bipasha in the heat of the moment.
However, though the fight was quite real, but take details of Bebo calling Bipasha names and slapping her, with a pinch of salt, because while Bipasha did accuse Kareena of calling her uncharitable names, but she never confirmed what was actually said. Around the same time, Bipasha featured in an edition of the Filmfare magazine. She had given a four page interview, and had even opened up about her issues with Kareena Kapoor.
"I think this is a case of making a mountain out of a molehill. There were never any problems with me. She had some problems with the designer. I don't know why I was pulled in. It was quite childish," – Bipasha was quoted from the magazine.
However, the following year, Kareena too was interviewed by the same magazine and she too had quite a bit to say about her contemporary Bipasha. Kareena infact, mocked Bipasha saying the biggest thing in Bipasha’s career if her fight with Kareena Kapoor.
"She just doesn't seem to have any confidence in her own talent. In a four-page interview, she spoke about me for three pages. Why not talk about your work? I think her only claim to fame is that she fought with me during Ajnabee over dress designer Vikram Phadnis. She's given statements that I called her uncharitable names. Now, that's a figment of her imagination," – Kareena Kapoor had said.
And thus began the cold war between Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor. In fact, when Kareena had appeared in the second season of Koffee With Karan, she blatantly called Bipasha’s then boyfriend John Abraham, ‘expressionless’. But Bipasha isn’t one to let one go either and she went on to comment saying: “Kareena has too many expressions.”
Their cold war and exchange of words went on for years until in 2008, Bebo finally put their differences to rest when she invited Bips on Saif Ali Khan's birthday bash.
