Rapper Travis Scott arrested after Miami Beach police say he drunkenly yelled at people on a yacht
Rapper Travis Scott was taken into custody early on Thursday in Miami Beach on misdemeanour charges of trespassing and public drunkenness. According to the police, they discovered Scott at the marina in the city, yelling profanities at individuals aboard a yacht and ignoring their orders to leave.According to a police report, officers responded to a complaint of fights aboard a yacht and proceeded to the marina just before one in the morning.
According to the complaint, when they got there, they saw Scott, 33, ranting at passengers aboard the ship while standing on the pier. Police ordered him to sit down, but he refused to stop shouting and getting back up. According to the report, they could smell alcohol on his breath.
Scott was permitted to go because the individual who had phoned the police did not want to file charges.
But when he turned to leave, Scott could not stop shouting profanities at those aboard the yacht. According to the report, he fled in a waiting car, but he came back five minutes later and disregarded the police' orders to leave once more.
Officers say he then began yelling again, disturbing people in nearby boats and buildings. When officers asked if he had been drinking, he replied, “It's Miami.” He was arrested.
Scott was released from Miami-Dade County Jail before noon after posting a $650 bond.
After his release, he posted on the social platform X, “Lol.”
His publicists declined comment.
Scott, one of the biggest names in hip-hop and whose birth name is Jacques Webster, has more than 100 songs that made the Billboard Hot 100 and released four singles that topped the chart: “Sicko Mode,” “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts,” and “Franchise.”
He has two children with his former girlfriend, media personality and businesswoman Kylie Jenner.
This is not the first time Scott has been involved in a police investigation.
A crowd surge during Scott's 2021 performance at his home Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, claimed ten lives. Many attendees were unable to breathe or lift their arms due to the close quarters. The victims, who were between the ages of 9 and 27, perished from compressive asphyxia, which a medical professional compared to being run over by a car.
Attorneys for the victims claimed in court that careless planning and a disregard for the event's capacity and safety were to blame for the hundreds of injuries and fatalities that occurred during the concert.
Scott, the promoter Live Nation, and the other parties suing have refuted these allegations, stating that their first priority is everyone's safety. They claimed it was impossible to predict what would happen.
After a police investigation, a grand jury declined to indict Scott, along with five others connected to the festival.
