The bear Season 3 |
Josh Hartnett, who is giving Chicago a lot of the credit, was happy that his appearance on The Bear wasn't revealed before the release of the new season.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, July 3, Hartnett, 45, said, "I felt like the city of Chicago was really protective of The Bear." "It seems like there is an unspoken rule that you don't spoil that show because everyone there loves it."
Hartnett expressed his gratitude for his sequences not being revealed ahead of time, saying, "No one involved in the programme wants to give anything away. Having that surprise at the last minute is so much more enjoyable.
Hartnett tried his best to keep the news of his casting as Frank, the fiancé of Tiffany (Gillian Jacobs), a secret. He laughed, "Who am I really going to tell?" and recalled only informing his parents and a few acquaintances "because they love the show."
Additionally, Hartnett disclosed that he joined the project "before" ever seeing a screenplay. He cited his acquaintance with Chris Storer, the man of The Bear, as his reason for saying "yes right away."
For Hartnett, witnessing the camaraderie amongst actors like Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach was the high point of the process.

“I have to say that they have so much fun making that show,” he continued. “It shouldn’t be called work. Actors just come to set and hang out even on their days off. It feels like a group of friends making a show at university or something. Yet it’s this phenomenal success.”
The third season of The Bear, which debuted late last month, included small cameos from a number of well-known actors, including Olivia Colman, Joel McHale, Will Poulter, Jamie Lee Curtis, and John Mulaney.
But Hartnett wasn't the only unexpected presence. About halfway through the season, John Cena made his debut as Sammy, the brother of Fak (Matty Matheson).
Matheson, 42, recalls a number of storylines being leaked before to the season's debut when fans noticed the cast filming in various locations around Chicago.
“It’s one of those things where we are in public sometimes and I think it’s a little annoying,” Matheson exclusively told Us Weekly in March. “But we’re in a city that we love and people happen to walk by. And they walk by the moment we are outside.”
Matheson, who is also an executive producer on the show, wasn’t too concerned by the information that got out.
“I think maybe we can be a little more secretive,” he noted. “Maybe not just stand outside all together. But we’re all such good friends that it seems chill to be honest.”
The Bear is currently streaming on Hulu.
