Here are some of the most picturesque locations seen in Bollywood movies.

3 Idiots at Pangong Tso Lake

The climax of the iconic film 3 idiots was shot at Pangong Tso in Ladakh. The lake is breathtaking, surrounded as it is by the stunning Himalayas. The best time to visit Pangong Tso is during the tourist season of May to September. It is a 150 km or 5-6 hour drive from Leh.

The lake has also been featured in Dil Se, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Tashan and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Chennai Express at Dudhsagar Falls

This was the location for the scene in which the train halts next to a huge waterfall, which is where Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and her bodyguards get off and are received by Deepika’s father.

Dudhsagar Falls is located on the Mandovi River. It is 60 km by road from Panaji, Goa. It is amongst the tallest waterfalls in India. You can also visit the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and the Mollem National Park nearby.

Aashiqui 2 at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church

This is where the scene introducing Shraddha Kapoor in the movie Aashiqui 2 was shot. Located in Goa, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church is an iconic church built in the 15th century.  It is a popular destination for Bollywood and can also be seen in movies like Murder 2, Josh and Zeher.

The church is 14 km from Calangute Beach, and 30 km from Goa International Airport.

Bol Bachchan at Menavali Ghat

This is the location where the opening shots of the movie Bol Bachchan were filmed. Menavali Ghat is located about 3 kms from Wai, in Satara District, Maharashtra. It is a small village between Pune and Panchgani, and is popular for its temples.

Menavali is also popular among Bollywood directors. Some of the movies that have been shot here are: Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Gangaajal, Swades and Singham.

Shuddh Desi Romance at Mehrangarh Fort

This is where the title song of the movie Shuddh Desi Romance was shot. This magnificent fort, situated in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, is one of the largest in India. Due to its rich history, many movies have been shot here, including Awarapan and Hum Saath Saath Hain. Even Hollywood couldn’t resist the charm of this fort. You can glimpse its towering presence in scenes from The Dark Knight Rises.
