Filmmaker Atlee praised the team behind Kalki 2898 AD and specifically commended Deepika Padukone's acting skills, referring to himself as her 'biggest fan.'
Deepika Padukone expressed her gratitude to director Atlee on Instagram for his praise of her latest movie, Kalki 2898 AD. Atlee and Deepika had previously collaborated on the successful film Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan.

In the year 2898 AD according to Kalki, Deepika plays the role of Sum-80, also recognized as Sumathi, who gives birth to a special child destined to terminate the Kali Yuga and introduce a new age. Kamal Haasan's character, Supreme Yaskin, aims to eliminate the child, whereas Amitabh Bachchan's Ashwatthama is assigned the task of safeguarding the unborn child.
Deepika had an extended cameo in Atlee’s Jawan. The Shah Rukh Khan-led film was a massive success in 2023, becoming the top-grossing movie of the year. Nevertheless, Kalki 2898 AD is now outperforming Jawan at the box office. With a groundbreaking opening weekend, the film raked in Rs 555 crore globally, surpassing Jawan's previous record of Rs 520.79 crore. Consequently, Kalki 2898 AD now holds the title for the highest-earning weekend film.
